西方情人節由來

瓦倫丁節，又稱情人節，是歐美和大洋洲一些國家民族節日。中國吃網餐飲網提醒，此節日來源甚多，但一般是以羅馬聖教徒瓦倫丁被處死，後被定爲“情人節”較爲普通。

傳說一：公元3世紀，羅馬帝國皇帝克勞迪烏斯二世在首都羅馬宣佈廢棄所有婚姻承諾，當時是出於戰爭考慮，使更多無所牽掛男人可以走上爭戰疆場。一名叫瓦侖廷（SanctusValentinus）神父沒有遵照這個旨意而繼續爲相愛年輕人舉行教堂婚禮。事情被告發後，瓦侖廷神父先是被鞭打，然後被石頭擲打，最後在公元270年2月14日這天被送上絞架被絞死。14世紀以後，人們就開始紀念這個日子。現在，中文譯爲“情人節”這個日子，在西方國家裏就被稱爲ValentinesDay，用以紀念那位爲情人做主而犧牲神父。 傳說二：據說瓦倫丁是最早基督徒之一，那個時代做一名基督徒意味着危險和死亡。爲掩護其他殉教者，瓦淪丁被抓住，投入監牢。在那裏他治癒典獄長女兒失明雙眼。當暴君聽到着一奇蹟時，他感到非常害怕，於是將瓦淪丁斬首示衆。據傳說，在行刑那一天早晨，瓦淪丁給典獄長女兒寫一封情意綿綿告別信，落款是：FromyourValentine（寄自你瓦倫丁）。當天，盲女在他墓前種一棵開紅花杏樹，以寄託自己情思，這一天就是2月14日。自此以後，基督教便把2月14日定爲情人節。

傳說三：在古羅馬時期，2月14日是爲表示對約娜尊敬而設節日。約娜是羅馬衆神皇后，羅馬人同時將她尊奉爲婦女和婚姻之神。接下來2月15日則被稱爲“盧帕撒拉節”，是用來對約娜治下其他衆神表示尊敬節日。在古羅馬，年輕人和少女生活是被嚴格分開。然而，在盧帕撒拉節，小夥子們可以選擇一個自己心愛姑娘名字刻在花瓶上。這樣，過節時候，小夥子就可以與自己選擇姑娘一起跳舞，慶祝節日。如果被選中姑娘也對小夥子有意話，他們便可一直配對，而且最終他們會墜入愛河並一起步入教堂結婚。後人爲此而將每年2月14日定爲情人節。

還有一個傳說（五），西方情人節來源於古羅馬牧神節（LupercaliaFestival）。牧神節本來是慶祝一個羅馬畜牧神盧波庫斯古老節日，後來演變人情人節。牧神節於每年2月15日，修士們會聚集在羅馬城中巴淪丁Palantine）山上一個洞穴旁慶祝。據說在這裏，古羅馬城奠基者 （Romilus andRemus）被一隻母狼扶育長大。在節日各項慶典中，有一項是年輕貴族們，手持羊皮鞭，在街道上奔跑。年輕婦女們會聚集在街道兩旁，祈望羊皮鞭抽打到她們頭上。人們相信這樣會使她們更容易生兒育女。在拉丁語中，羊皮鞭被叫做 februa，鞭打叫做 fabruatio， 實際上都含有'純潔'意思。二月名字（February）就是由此而來。
